Projects
Our way of working is very much based on an ecological one and is ingrained within the ethos of:
PERMACULTURE
ALTERNATIVE BUILDING
ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCES
At the moment we are building the first La Molina straw bale house. One part of the house is designed to be used for B&B with separate entrance, shower and bathroom facilities. The B&B-suite will have a roof-terrace facing amazing rock formations and Olive groves.
B&B will be available from end of 2008 onwards. Check this site.
For February, March and April we are planning to give our current communal kitchen a solid housing. We will build a kitchen inspired by women from West Africa with parts of it in natural stone. Anyone who has done building with natural stone, worked with clay or has an interest in learning it - is welcome to help.
Ecological Sewage System:
La Molina will have an ecological sewage system. These systems are successfully tried in a smaller and bigger scale all over the world and proove to be working with no odours or visual pollution.
Hamam Garden:
La Molina’s very own Hamam-Garten, a place of sensations and senses, of pleasure, cleansing, and meeting. It is planned for 2008- so watch that site if you are interested in learning how to do one. Workshops in stone carving, wood carving, water features, mosaic, paving and planting will be advertised soon.
Check ‘forthcoming events’ for “Creating a Hamam Garden” – Workshop
Ongoing projects on La Molina will be building dry-stone-walls. We are offering 4-day workshops throughout the year by experienced builders in dry-stone-walling.
See ‘forthcoming events’.
How you can register for workshops:
By the time of putting la molina on the web, times and details for workshops have not been finalised yet. If you are interested, please send us an email or phone and we will provide you with the up-dates. The up-dates will also be on the web.
La molina runs a volunteer/helper scheme and offers interested women free board (either caravan or tent with bedding) for 3 hours work a day. This scheme does not include catering. Women will have use of communal kitchen to do so.
We are looking for women to bring their many skills and enthusiasm to help us develop the land and the project but also to give us a hand with the day-to-day running of the place.
We are specifically looking for women with skills in carpentry or joinery. We have many roofs to build, doors to fit in, windows to be restored etc.
Other skills needed in this development stage are the skills of women in the building trade. Either traditional building or with experience in alternative building. We are also looking for plumbers and electricians or women who have done these things before.
Apart from these very specific skills, there is always the land with its thousands of sqm, 45 olive trees, lots of figue trees, willows, its river which want to be looked after, ie pruning, clearing hedges, harvesting olives in january etc.
All women with varying skills are welcome but please contact us first so that we can arrange dates and times.
Artists, teachers, and established groups can take advantage of this marvellous place to organise their activities here.
Artists – let the creative wave inspire you. Work here on your own creative projects.
Musicians, bands, composers…the cliffs will be your orchestra hall
Sculptoresses – wood, stone and other materials are available
